And even if you've been using a crockpot for a long time you'll be surprised at the number of new crockpot recipes you'll discover. For instance, did you know there are lots of crockpot dessert recipes? Crockpot breakfast recipes? Beverage recipes? The list goes on!

Crockpot cooking is not only easy, but convenient as well. I used to work at home, so I had all the time I needed to cook the things I like. When I changed jobs I found I had a lot less time, so I avoided the kinds of recipes that took a lot of time to prepare. When I got a crockpot I discovered that I could prepare the ingredients in just a few minutes, toss them into the crockpot and set the time and temperature. When I came home I had a ready-to-eat meal waiting for me!

And the best part was I had no pots and pans to clean! Slow cookers work at a low temperatures so there is never anything burned onto the surface. More time saved!

Well, to be honest, that was not really the best part...what really got me hooked was that the food tasted so much better! There is something that happens when food is cooked slowly that just can't happen at higher temperatures. Meat, especially, benefits from long, slow cooking as it gets really tender. Also, a lot more flavor is drawn out from the bones and cartilage when the heat is not too high. I was completely convinced when my roommate said to me after one meal, "okay, from now on your cooking every meal in that thing!"

Well, "that thing" gets a lot of use now, but nearly every week someone shares a new recipe with me that I just have to try, and now I have crockpot recipes galore! So, whether or not you find a new recipe here, I do hope you'll take the time to share some of your recipes with me and allow me to share them with other visitors. Because food is about sharing...after all, you never see any recipes that say "Serves 1".
